Power: 148 bhp
Weight: 190 kg (kerb)
A lightweight legend!
The power of a litre bike with the agility of a 600.
This is the latest generation L1, 8 kg lighter than the K bikes.
Stop press! This is going to be frustrating to read (it's painful to write) but we have had to extend the competition dates. Simply put, we can't afford to give away an expensive beautiful bike unless its purchase cost has as least been covered. Once we've given away a couple of bikes then we can speed up the competitions, but we've got to get there first.
This is our first competition! We are building a business to give away carefully chosen and exciting prizes as regularly as possible, and here is where we start. We are a fully insured UK limited company (see Ts and Cs). The actual bike you see here was bought recently, and is sitting on a battery tender, cleaned and waiting patiently to be given to its lucky new owner. The closing date for the competition gives us time to ensure that all the tickets are sold. If they sell out earlier, we'll draw earlier, and each ticket has the same great odds to win. Please do share with your mates, it will bring the draw date closer! The other prizes haven't been bought yet, as they are brand new and will be in the winner's chosen size. So, to the competition...
What a privilege to ride this bike. It’s lovely and approachable, and feels like a new best friend as soon as you get on. It’s fast though - very, very fast (0 to 140mph in 10 seconds). You can sense the light weight immediately, with steering that is quick yet stable and full of feedback. The gargling free-revving engine hardens into a snarl as you reach towards 14,000 rpm, and it's totally planted at all speeds.
This bike is a 2012 L1, the first of the latest generation of GSX-R 750. It weighs an amazing 190 kg with all fluids and a tank of fuel, and the engine puts out 148 bhp. This particular bike has a Scorpion carbon fibre exhaust, and though the exhaust looks small, the bike sounds great, and not too loud. It’s rare for an exhaust manufacturer to do this, but Scorpion post dyno results, which add 2 bhp, meaning this bike now has 150hp.
MCN calls this bike “One of the best sportsbikes ever made” and “the perfect sportsbike”.
This bike was clearly a pride and joy to its previous owner, and has been pampered.
Free delivery to the English, Scottish and Welsh mainland, or to a mainland port for collection otherwise.
Tickets are all drawn by a process using a random number generator that Speedwinners cannot affect. Please see How It Works, About Us and the Terms and Conditions.
